Reach Orange County Record Offices

Orange County Busted Mugshots is a private reference service, not a government office. It cannot confirm custody, arrange a release, post bond, or obtain an official record. Direct those matters to the public office that created or holds the record.

Choose the Office That Holds the Record

Orange County uses a regional jail, so the correct contact depends on the item requested. The arresting agency holds its own report, CVRJ handles local and regional custody and its own intake or release records, and a court clerk holds later case records. An arrest or booking entry is an allegation rather than proof of guilt, so confirm a case result with the court.

Orange County Sheriff’s Office

Orange County Sheriff’s Office
11282 Government Center Drive, Suite A
Orange, VA 22960
Main and non-emergency: (540) 672-1200
Fax: (540) 672-7824
Records Clerk / Crime Analyst: (540) 672-7204
Published availability: 24 hours a day, 365 days a year

Use the Sheriff’s Office for sheriff-created arrest or incident records, agency FOIA matters, and general non-emergency contact. Sheriff requests are separate from County Administration requests. Orange County’s FOIA instructions identify Sheriff Jason Smith and Mike LaCasse as Sheriff FOIA contacts and allow requests by mail, fax, email, online submission, in person, or telephone. A written request that identifies an existing record is still practical.

Central Virginia Regional Jail

Central Virginia Regional Jail
13021 James Madison Highway
Orange, VA 22960
Phone: (540) 672-3222

CVRJ is the adult local and regional custody point for Orange County. Its official site does not publish a public name roster, recent-bookings feed, or photo gallery. For an existing CVRJ booking, intake, release record, or a specifically requested photo, send a focused request to the CVRJ Custodian of Records at the facility address and ask for the applicable fee estimate. No public records-office hours, photo-specific fee, or request turnaround were verified. For a current custody question, use the jail’s official contact route or the CVRJ-linked VINELink service.

Orange County Courts

Orange County Circuit Court Criminal Division
110 N. Madison Road, Suite 300
Orange, VA 22960
Phone: (540) 672-6162
Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Circuit Court is the route for later felony or appeal case records and disposition questions, subject to confidential or sealed-file limits. The Virginia case-information service and OCIS can help identify a case before contacting the clerk. For adult criminal and traffic location or status questions after checking OCIS, contact Orange General District Court at County Courthouse, 110 N. Madison Road, Orange, VA 22960, (540) 672-3150.

Office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For a town-created incident or arrest record, contact the Town of Orange Police Department. The town’s FOIA contact is Town Clerk Wendy J. Chewning, 119 Belleview Avenue, Orange, VA 22960, (540) 672-5005, townclerk@townoforangeva.gov. The Town FOIA policy and form supplies the request route. A Town of Orange record and a CVRJ custody record are not the same record.

Gordonsville Town and Police Records

Town of Gordonsville Public Information / FOIA Officer
Town Manager’s Office, Town Hall
112 S. Main Street
Gordonsville, VA 22942
P.O. Box 276
Phone: (540) 832-2233
jjones@gordonsville.org

For a town or Gordonsville Police Department record, use the Town Manager’s Office FOIA route and confirm the current departmental records contact. The state local-records directory lists the Gordonsville Police Department records telephone as (540) 832-2234. Do not expect a public municipal booking feed or jail roster, because none was verified in the reviewed official materials.

Virginia Department of Corrections

If a person has moved from local custody into state custody or supervision, use the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator. For an existing VADOC record, the agency directs requesters to the unit, warden, superintendent, or probation and parole district holding it. General VADOC FOIA questions may go to FOIA@vadoc.virginia.gov or (804) 963-2953.

For help choosing a records route, the Orange County official-records path explains the custody sequence, public-records request scope, and state or federal locator alternatives. A BOP or ICE locator is relevant only after a person enters federal or immigration custody, not as proof of an Orange County booking.
